LISTS of Invasive Species

Have you sighted an invasive species? Report it and learn more about it by reading a species profile

This page contains links to invasive species lists and watch lists. They have been developed by various individuals, groups, and organizations to describe invasive species found in U.S. states and territories, coastal and aquatic habitats associated with the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and in neighboring countries such as Canada and Mexico. International invasive species lists are also available on the Web, but they can be harder to find. So we have compiled a catalog of invasive species information systems that will help you find what you need.

Lists include invasive species that are known to occur in a given place while invasive species watch lists include invasive species that we should look out for. Although these species have not been found in a given place, they may pose a threat to that place because they have already invaded other similar places or habitats.

U.S. General Invasive Species Lists

> List of species that are invasive in the USA, native in the USA but invasive in other places, and species whose biostatus is unknown (their status as an invasive species is yet to be determined) (Global Invasive Species Database).

> Invasive Species Identification Guide and Checklist (Discover Life). The list includes algae, arachnids (spiders), bacteria, crustaceans, fungi, insects, plants, platyhelminthes (e.g. worms), protists (e.g. slime moulds), and vertebrates (e.g. amphibians, birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, etc.). The species names in this list are linked to photos, maps, and other descriptive information.
